What is a Voice Site?

Voice Sites are like Web sites for the telephone. Web sites have interlinked Web pages, and Voice Sites have interlinked voice pages. To use a Voice Site, you call an access number from any telephone, listen to the options presented to you, and make your choice by speaking naturally. Callers' spoken commands trigger events such as hearing audio information, being transferred to another phone number, and sending voice messages.

Can I use the Voice Site with my existing phone system?

Yes. The Voice Site works hand-in-hand with any existing phone system. Since it is completely Web based, there's no need to buy special equipment or install any software. Simply build a voice site online for your business; you can even link it to your existing toll-free number.

How many people can call my Voice Site at the same time?

A practically unlimited number of people can call your Voice Site at the same time. The Voice Site hosts all of the telephony services necessary to serve a large number of simultaneous callers.

How can callers reach my voice site through my existing phone number?
You have two options.

The first approach is to contact your current telephone carrier and request that they forward your toll-free number to your Voice Site access number. You can forward it to the toll-free number you have already been assigned, or you can have it forwarded to a number in the 703 area code.
The second option is to transfer your number to your Voice Site. Our telephone carrier would take ownership of the phone number and we would then tie your toll-free number directly to your voice site, thus bypassing the need to incur call-forwarding costs. To transfer your number to your Voice Site, please send a request to mailto:ronal@awwcentral.com. There is a one-time fee of $50.00 once the transfer is completed.

What kind of hardware do I need to use the system to its fullest potential?

You don't need to install any hardware or software. Your Voice Site transfers calls to any 10-digit U.S. or Canadian phone number, so you only need a 10-digit phone number to connect to.

What languages does the Voice Site understand? What about accents?

The current version of Voice Site has been optimized for U.S. English. Support for other languages will be available in upcoming releases. For U.S. English, the Voice Site can handle a wide variety of accents from different speakers.

Can users receive faxes through the Voice Site?

Not from AWIS, however there are services, which may make this operation possible.

How can I block a caller?

Right now, there is no functionality built into the system that can selectively block callers to your access numbers.
